Tour of Kalmthoutse Heide, Ossendrecht and Woensdrecht

Your route starts at Brasserie De Kar. From here you can make a nice tour around the Kalmthoutse Heide. The former low peat area has been transformed into a beautiful large heath with fens and pine forests. You pass Putte, a border village that is partly in the Netherlands and partly in Belgium. Stop along the way for coffee or lunch at Grenshotel/Restaurant De Jonckheer in Ossendrecht or Het Raedthuys in Woensdrecht! The name Ossendrecht has nothing to do with the animal. It is a corruption of Ussedrecht. A usse refers to a dune along the Scheldt, a drecht is a fordable place. You can enjoy cycling through the woods here. In the north of the border park De Zoom - Kalmthoutse Heide it slopes beautifully, this part is located on the Brabantse Wal.
