Tour Voorne-Putten from Maassluis

Your route starts at Grand Café't Hoofd in Maassluis. Voorne-Putten is a surprisingly green and quiet cycling area close to Rotterdam. Here you drive through an area whose past and present are mainly influenced by the surrounding water. This history is reflected in the many dikes, waterways and creeks in the open polder landscape. But also the continuing history of the picturesque fortified towns of Hellevoetsluis and Brielle. The largely seventeenth-century fortress of Brielle has been restored, where you can admire nine bastions and five ravelins. Then you will discover the dunes of Oostvoorne, the most species-rich dunes in all of Europe. Get off at the Droogdok Jan Blanken, built between 1798 and 1822, it is the oldest preserved dock in the Netherlands.
