The Gang of the White Veer Loon on Zand | Myths & Legends

North Brabant around 1720. The population has been suffering for years under the yoke of Spanish and French occupying armies. Survival is all that matters. A group of'heydens\\\','tloopers\\\' and deserters form a rogue gang and turn out to be the terror of the region. Farms and country houses are not safe from their raids. They sell stolen goods and livestock to local healers in exchange for clothing, food and weapons. The gang is hiding in an encampment deep in the impenetrable area between Loon op Zand and 's-Gravenmoer, which was then close to the border with Holland. The most notorious and cunning of them all is gang leader Swarte Johannes. No one knows what he really looks like, because Swarte Johannes is a master of disguises. Only the white feather on his hat is a sign that he is a member of the Gang of the White Feather. This 43 kilometer cycle route over the junctions leads you along the exciting story.

Poverty prevailed in North Brabant around the year 1720. Survival is all that matters. A gang forms, led by Swarte Johannes, which scares everyone. The Gang of the White Feather plunders wildly, in disguise, and manages to rob many citizens. A manhunt follows, but will this gang be caught? Who knows, maybe a white feather will give them away...
