Tour of Tubbergen and Almelo

Your route starts at Restaurant Vinck. The Eeshof castle, which the bike tour takes you past, is very special. The oldest part of the beautiful house in Tubbergen dates from the eighteenth century: 1719 is written above the door. The wing was added in 1780 and 1786, as you can see from the stone coats of arms. The second floor was added in the nineteenth century. The history of the city of Almelo begins with Huis Almelo, which was first mentioned in 1236. Take a look, you will pass it! The weaving mills here took off due to the invention of the steam engine. Around 1900 there were many wealthy families in the region, who built beautiful houses and villas in classical styles: Art Nouveau, expressionism and neo-renaissance.
