Tour of Tubbergen and Almelo

Your route starts at Restaurant Vinck. A truly special feature is De Eeshof Castle, which the bike tour will take you past. The oldest part of this beautiful house in Tubbergen dates back to the eighteenth century: the year 1719 is inscribed above the door. The wing was added in 1780 and 1786, as you can see from the stone coats of arms. The second floor was added in the nineteenth century. The history of the city of Almelo begins with Huis Almelo, first mentioned in 1236. Take a look, you'll pass it! The weaving mills here boomed with the invention of the steam engine. Around 1900, many wealthy families in the region built magnificent houses and villas in classical styles: Art Nouveau, Expressionism, and Neo-Renaissance.
