Description
Your route starts at Cafetaria & Lunchroom Uit de Kunst. Wegdam is one of the estates located in Kerspel Goor. The castle was first mentioned in 1400, when it was still an ordinary farm. The current house was built in 1758. The castle is privately occupied and is not open to the public. A few hundred meters further on lies the Weldam estate, on which a manor has also been built. The estate was first mentioned in 1389. The castle was extensively renovated in 1645, but it fell into serious disrepair in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries due to vacancy. In 1879 the castle was restored when a new owner purchased the estate. The beautiful garden is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
