Tour of Hoensbroek Castle and Mulderplas

Your route starts at Brasserie De Muldermolen. When you cross the street you immediately arrive at the Mulderplas, a beautiful small nature reserve in the Geleenbeek valley. Wooden decking paths lead you over the fragile nature, taking you to places you would otherwise never see. Via the hamlet of Thull you continue to Hoensbroek Castle, one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. And one of the most beautiful! There was a motte on this site as early as around 1225. Due to its strategic location on the trade routes to Maastricht, Aachen and Cologne, this original castle developed into the largest castle between the Maas and the Rhine. Nearby you will discover the beautiful Dream Pond. Back you follow the beautifully meandering Geleenbeek. Who knows, you might spot the kingfisher here!
