Description
From Het Wapen van Zeeland you can take a cycling tour through the varied nature of Schouwen-Duiveland. First you cycle through the dunes on the north side of the island. Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh sea air. Just before Burgh-Haamstede you pass through the deciduous forest behind Haamstede Castle. Further on you drive through Boswachterij Westerschouwen, the largest forest in Zeeland. Originally this was a large sloping drifting sand plain, now pine, oak, birch and poplar grow there. From junction 70 you exchange the green for the vast blue of Oosterschelde National Park. Along the path is the Plompetoren, an old church tower from 1486. From the top you have a beautiful panorama.
