Description
A bike ride through the hilly landscape of South Limburg is tough, but very beautiful. At the tops of the hills you can enjoy the most beautiful views of the rolling landscape with an authentic village here and there. Then you will quickly forget about those tough climbs.
From the Onderste Bosch to the Vijlenerbos
You start this cycle tour quietly with a descent from the Gulpenerberg. Then it's time to put your leg muscles to work as you cycle towards the Belgian border. Between Teuven and Sippenaeken you cycle through the Onderste Bosch. This forest is located on the edge of the Crapoel Plateau and is partly a slope forest. A little further you cycle through the Vijlenerbos. This area consists of several forests that together cover 650 hectares. Some parts of the forest are located on fairly flat plateaus, but you will also find sloped forests in this area with considerable height differences.
Gulperberg campsite
The start and end point of this route is Camping Gulperberg. The name of this campsite already reveals its location: on top of the Gulperberg. Here you can pitch your tent, camper or caravan to spend the night in these beautiful surroundings. Have a nice rest and then try route 391058, which also starts from this campsite.
The Wittemermolen
De Wittemermolen is located on the border of the picturesque village of Wittem. This medium stroke mill was built in 1836. The wooden mill of the flour mill is located in the building. This was done this way, so that the water mill could also run in the winter without any problems. Nowadays the mill is used as a holiday home. In the area surrounding the mill you will find rows of poplars and mill ponds.
