Cross the border from Meddo

From the rolling scenic landscape of the Achterhoek you can easily cycle across the border into Germany. There you also drive through a beautiful region full of natural beauty and sights.

Zwillbrocker Venn
Enjoy a relaxing terrace at Eetcafé Restaurant Spiekerman before cycling to Germany. Immediately after crossing the border you pass through the Zwillbrocker Venn. This area is only accessible to cyclists and walkers, so it is wonderfully quiet. The most remarkable inhabitants of this area are the flamingos. The Zwillbrocker Venn is the northernmost breeding area for flamingos in Europe. You can watch them from one of the bird hides.

Oldenkotte
In Rekken you will see beautiful churches, old farms and the Piepermolen. It was built in 1796 and is named after Mr Pieper, the last professional miller of the mill. You cross the Berkel, after which you cycle to Oldenkotte: a hamlet right on the border with Germany. Then you drive through Ellewick and Vreden, a town on the Berkel. The route ends on the terrace of Eetcafé Restaurant Spiekerman.
