Mierlo, Geldrop, Heeze over the Strabrechtse heath.

This is the twelfth section of the Tour of the Netherlands, originally a LF route of 1300 km, which is described in a booklet, but we cover it in separate laps and thus accumulate the "Round" .

From junction 62 we leave through the woods on a three km long path. A beautiful and natural cycle path along a few fens. At a busy road, turn left and after a short distance turn right across the beautiful Strabrechtse and Lieropse heath. This is a large nature reserve with fens and heathland. A few flocks of sheep are scattered here and there. Lots of butterflies, birds of prey, frogs in the fens and rare plants. After a long journey we arrive in Mierlo. Lo often refers to forest in swamp. In this nice town there is a standard mill from 1640. It was moved in 1860 and placed on a rise in the village. You can easily take a break here or eat delicious ice cream.

Continue to the tranquil Eindhoven Canal, a fourteen km long canal between Eindhoven and the Zuid-Willemsvaart. The canal became less and less important due to the construction of roads and railways. Beautiful to cycle along.

At junction 77 we head towards Geldrop. After crossing the viaduct over the highway, we go along the heath to Heeze. We pass the castle and after a long, beautiful drive we reach the paved road again, where we cycle to the car at Junction 31. A very beautiful route!
