Walking through the countryside of Oirschot

From Kasteel Bijsterveld - Brasserie Jacob V you can take a nice walk through the surroundings of Oirschot. First you walk to the hamlet of Straten. You pass a number of monumental Brabant long-facade farms. The beautiful St. Anthony Abbot Chapel dates from 1853, although several chapels have stood on this site since the fifteenth century. Then you walk on an unpaved path past grasslands and some plots where trees are grown. From junction 6 you walk a bit through the Mortelen. This is a small-scale landscape of poplar groves, coniferous forests and grasslands and arable lands. The landscape is reminiscent of the old-fashioned Brabant rural countryside before the land consolidation. The last part of the route you walk through agricultural areas back to the estate. Here you can enjoy a coffee and cake at Kasteel Bijsterveld - Brasserie Jacob V.
