Walking through the countryside of Rijsbergen

In the countryside of the village of Rijsbergen you can enjoy walking on roads and unpaved paths. First you walk past meadows and fields to the hamlet of Oekel, where you will see a small roadside chapel. Further on you walk across the Bigtelaar Estate, a little later you cross the Aa or Weerijs twice. This stream originates in Belgium and joins the river Mark in Breda. Just past junction 95 you walk a short distance along the edge of the Oekelsbos. You will then encounter the Aa of Weerijs again: this time you cross the stream with a ferry and walk a long way along the rippling water. You can fully enjoy the silence here.
