Along the banks of the Oer-IJ

This e-bike cycle route takes you along the banks of the Oer-IJ, as the situation was 500 years before Chr. used to be. From the starting point of Ormsby Field in Castricum, the route runs along the west bank.
In Heemskerk, the foundations of old castles lie on the dry sand. In Beverwijk along countryside such as Scheybeek. At the North Sea Canal, which is dug in an old part of the IJ, the tour goes along the eastern bank via old medieval dikes to the villages of Uitgeest and Limmen. Along the Aagtendijk is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam and the fortress on the St. Aagtendijk. The tour ends via the Zanddijk and Bakkum via the Huis van Hilde (tip to visit!) at Agro-Camping Ormsby Field. More information at Stichting Oer-IJ. www.oerij.eu
