Cycling through the nature around Burgh-Haamstede

Jump on the saddle and come and admire the nature around Burgh-Haamstede. First you cycle through Boswachterij Westerschouwen, the largest forest in Zeeland. Originally this was one large sloping shifting sand plain. Pines were planted there around 1920, later oaks, birches and poplars were also planted. From junction 70 you exchange the green for the wide blue of Oosterschelde National Park. Along the path is the Plompetoren. From the top of this old church tower 1468 you have a beautiful panorama. Further on you cycle past the Schelphoek nature reserve, after which you cycle through the polder to the dune landscape on the north side of Schouwen-Duiveland. When the weather is nice, you can paddle in the surf, after which the route takes you back to Pannekoekenmolen de Graanhalm. Time for a tasty snack.
