Description

The Drents-Friese Wold is one of the largest contiguous forest areas in the Netherlands. It is therefore not surprising that you cycle through nature here for almost the entire route. And what nature! You drive through extensive forests where oaks, beech and conifers grow. You also cycle through the Doldersummer and Wapserveld, two extensive adjacent heathlands. In the wet parts you will see heath, peat fluff and bell gentian, while in the dry parts you will see common heather and mouse ear. From junction 82 you cycle across the Aekingerzand. In this drifting sand area, wind and weather have free rein. You pass the Grenspoel, further on there is a lookout tower. Finally, you cycle a bit through the Vledder Aa valley. In Vledder itself you drive along the picturesque old Brink. The route ends at Camping Padjelanta.
