Bicycle route Aamsveen

This route takes you through Aamsveen, a cross-border nature reserve that is largely on German territory. The Aamsveen was once part of a high moor area that covered part of the eastern Netherlands and extended into Germany. Most of this raised bog was reclaimed for agriculture. The Aamsveen is one of the few remnants of this old raised moor. You drive through a mix of marsh forest, heaths, ponds and sparse grassland. In between you take a trip to the rural area near the German Epe, but you soon cycle back into nature. In this region it is wonderfully quiet on the cycle paths, ideal to switch back for a day. Back in the Netherlands you can visit the Zuivelboerderij Holterhof store. The route ends at Holterhof Campers.
