Description
With this route you will discover the charm of Enschede. First you will cycle to the Derkingsmaten, a small-scale nature reserve. Further on you will cycle through the park forest of Hooge Boekel, an estate that was founded by a textile manufacturer. At junction 23 you will cycle through Zuidkamp. This former military camp was built by the Luftwaffe and had to give the impression from the air that it was part of the Twente landscape. A number of the German buildings are still there. Then you will pass through the charming coulisse landscape of the centuries-old Landgoed Hof Espelo. At junction 52 you will pass through the Kristalbad, an ecological connection zone. The route takes you through the heart of Enschede, after which you will cycle back into the countryside.
