With this route you explore the entire island of Voorne, including the towns of Brielle, Hellevoetsluis and Oostvoorne. You will see the transition from the dune landscape in the west to the large-scale polders further inland.

You can pick up the route from three Tourist Transfer Points. From TOP Brielle you start at junction 31, from TOP Hellevoetsluis you start at junction 21 and from TOP Oostvoorne you start at junction 1.

A special area with an ancient history. Alternate the historic fortifications and defenses of Hellevoetsluis with bird and deer spotting in the Quackgors nature reserve.

Hellevoetsluis
Hellevoetsluis is a protected cityscape and has a number of special historic buildings, ships and several museums. It was an important naval port with defenses that were unique to the Low Countries. The Hellevoetsluis fortress was built in the early 17th century to strengthen the war and trading port. The fortress was important at that time as a (naval) port and this position was maintained until the 19th century. Because the Canal was dug through Voorne around 1830, there was a lively trade and passage to Rotterdam

Jan Blanken Dry Dock is the oldest working stone dry dock in Europe. It's special how the techniques from two hundred years ago are still relevant. The free-access site includes a visitor center.
