Cycling through the beautiful nature around Denekamp

This route takes you through the beautiful nature around Denekamp. First you drive a few kilometers along the Almelo-Nordhorn Canal. This watercourse was once used for peat shipping, but now it forms a unique elongated nature reserve. From junction 51 you cycle through the mixed forests of the Roderveld. Further on you will pass through Het Hakenberg. On this historic estate you will find old forests and grasslands and arable lands where, thanks to nature-friendly management, rare plants and crops still grow, such as blue sedge and winter rye. Get off at junction 61 to enjoy the view over the Dinkel before you cycle into the Lutterzand. Here you can really cycle quietly through the woods. You drive back along the canal to the Sisters of Denekamp Franciscushuis guesthouse.
