You start on the Grote Markt in Ypres and after a few minutes of pedaling you pass a first war site along the Ieperleekanaal: Essex Farm Cemetery. The bunker complex and cemetery where John McCrae wrote the poem “In Flanders Fields”. Further on your tour you cycle through the northern Ypres Salient and pass the largest French cemetery, St. Charles de Potyse, where some 4800 soldiers are buried.
