Your route starts at Camping Waalstrand. This is a beautiful, relatively undiscovered corner of the Netherlands. In the floodplains you might see Konik horses and Red Beggars. A little further away is the medieval Doornenburg castle, which is well worth a visit. then you cycle further through the Gendtse Waard, part of the Gendtse Polder. The part without a dike is the worth, here river water can flow freely in and out. Around the Vossegat, a silting sand extraction lake, a special area is created with undulating sand and gravel banks, overgrown with willows and black poplars. A landmark not to be missed during the route is the 'Dijkwijf', a statue of a woman on a mound. Be sure to get off here to take pictures and enjoy the view!
