Lingewaard, Gelderland, The Netherlands
Cycling route: 3878581
Provided by: Groots Genieten
In the floodplains you might see Konik horses and Red Geuzen. A little further on lies the medieval castle Doornenburg, which is well worth a visit. Then you cycle further through the Gendtse Waard, part of the Gendtse Polder. The part without a dike is the waard, here river water can flow in and out freely. Around the Vossegat, a silting up sand extraction pond, a special area is created with undulating sand and gravel banks, overgrown with willows and black poplars. A landmark not to be missed during the route is the'Dijkwijf\\\', a statue of a woman on a mound. Be sure to get off here to take photos and enjoy the view!
