Walking route Reeshofbos and Oude Warande

Tilburg is home to a few special parks and city forests. This route takes you through two of them. First you walk to the Reeshofbos. Until the middle of the last century there was still a heath here. Scots pines, American oaks and beech were planted here during the reclamation. At junction 7 you walk a bit in a southerly direction. You walk across the Stadsakker. Volunteers grow old grain crops, vegetables and fruit here. Finally, you walk through the Oude Warande. This French-style forest of stars was laid out in 1712 by order of Willem van Hessen-Kassel, soldier and lord of Tilburg. De Oude Warande is one of the few well-preserved star forests in the Netherlands. At Uitspanning De Zeven Geitjes you can enjoy a snack on the cozy terrace.
