Walk Eerdse Bergen and Vlagheide

Just below the village of Eerde you can take a nice walk. First you walk through the Eerdse Bergen. Here you walk through a former shifting sand area that has been planted with oak coppice. This is to prevent the sand from spreading towards Eerde or across the agricultural land. It is wonderfully quiet to walk on the lateral moraine here. Just past junction 80 you will pass a listening point from the Liberation Route. During Market Garden, the Germans succeeded in blocking a necessary reinforcement for the English troops in Arnhem. From junction 50 you walk onto the Vlagheide, a former rubbish dump. From the almost 40 meter high top you have a beautiful panorama of the area. The route ends at Het Goeie Leven.
