Description
East of Haaksbergen you will take a bike ride through the beautiful nature. After you have loosened up your legs, you will enter the Buurserzand at junction 83. This nature reserve consists of a mix of forest, heathland and old juniper berries. From the saddle you can fully enjoy the natural beauty. A little later you will cycle through the next beautiful nature reserve: the Witte Veen. This used to be an extensive raised bog area, now you cycle through forest and heathland. It is wonderfully quiet here. It will not surprise you that this area was once popular with smugglers who commuted between the Netherlands and Germany. Via Buurse you cycle to the next natural gem: the Haaksbergerveen.
