Tour of the Eelerberg estate near Hellendoorn

This route takes you from Lorkeers Brood banquet - Lunchroom to the Eelerberg, the northernmost peak of the Sallandse Heuvelrug. It is a special place for walking. And not just because of the views you have from open spaces. An estate was founded here in 1847, almost twenty years later a country house was built that was used as a country estate by the then owner. Their arrival was quite an experience. Even before the summer season, carriages with household goods were driven to Eelerberg. When the owner and his family entered the driveway, the tenants' children welcomed them by waving flags. The family planted the forty-meter-high hill with forest. Whimsical oaks, white birches and ancient juniper bushes give it a mysterious touch.
