Description

On the outskirts of Amersfoort you can take a walk through the beautiful Bergkwartier. This district enjoys a protected cityscape because of its special architecture. After a few hundred meters you will see a monumental rector's house in traditionalist style on your left. You will also pass some beautiful houses further on. After crossing the Utrechtseweg, you walk past a monumental water tower from 1912. Then you walk up the Amersfoortse Berg, a hill 44 meters above NAP. The park-like forest is also called Little Switzerland. It is wonderfully relaxing walking here. On the Doctor Jan Pieter Heijelaan you see Villa de Wachter from 1929 on the right, an example of businesslike expressionism. On the other side of Utrechtseweg you can still walk past the Belgian monument from 1919. The route ends at Leerhotel Het Klooster.
