De Wolden, Drenthe, The Netherlands

Provided by: route.nl
You cycle to the Reestdal, an idyllic stream valley for gourmets. The Reest is a peat stream that forms part of the border between Overijssel and Drenthe, in many places the water meanders just like in the past. The main attraction here is De Havixhorst castle, with its baroque gardens and beautiful spacious terraces. There is also a sculpture garden with the most beautiful statues from Dutch figurative sculpture. De Havixhorst is part of the hamlet De Schiphorst, where you will also find the stork village De Lokkerij. The storks are so well cared for here that they are spread independently over the region around the station. Also take a look at the Infocentrum't Ende of Het Drentse Landschap.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
