You can quickly get off again to take a look at Museumboerderij Pasmans Huus. National Park Dwingelderveld is unique in size and special in terms of flora and fauna. In addition to typical heathland plants; shrub, bell and crow heather and sundew, you will encounter the rare bog asphodel and marsh gentian. They are surrounded by almost three hundred different bird species, many of which also breed in the area. There are also herds of heathland sheep walking around. Imagine yourself far from civilization between the rolling heathlands, more than sixty ponds and fens, drifting sands and forests in the largest wet heathland in Western Europe. You cycle back over the Echtenerzand, hidden in the Ruinerbos. The old juniper berries and maritime pines take you back to the Drenthe of the past.
