Halfway tour from Amsterdam

Your route starts at ParkCafé - Herdenkingspark Westgaarde. From here you walk to Halfweg. The former sugar factory is now the SugarCity site with offices in the old sugar silos. You can see it beautifully from across the water, just like Museum Stoomgemaal Halfweg. Here you also have a nice view of the many houseboats in Zijkanaal F, which used to be the connection of Halfweg with the North Sea Canal. The 1100 Roe that you see a little later is a polder mill from 1674 that was moved. Originally this mill was also located on the Haarlemmerweg, it drained the Sloterbinnen- and Middelveldse combined polder. In 1965 it was rebuilt at its current location to drain the nearby sports park. That is badly needed, because you will encounter water everywhere!
