The Hoeksche Waard, a real cycling gem

The route starts in Nieuw-Beijerland and leads you through the vast polders. It is nice to cycle on the winding dikes, while you enjoy the peace and the views over the vast grasslands. Further on you drive through the forest of the Polder Buitenzomerlanden, a nature reserve on the Oude Maas. In Puttershoek you drive through the harbor area with old buildings. You drive along the Boezemvliet to Maasdam. You pass De Hoop, a thatched corn mill from 1822. In Westmaas you pass the beautiful village church from 1650. Further on is the Windlust: a white corn mill from 1853. In the polders you can still see a few monumental old farms.
