Round Odoorn, Weerdinge and Emmen

This route may be relatively short, but it is varied! First you drive to Odoorn. A nice village where you see some old farms. You will also pass the monumental Margaretha Church. Further on you drive along the edge of Valthe, a green village with Saxon farms. In Esdorp Weerdinge you pass the Hondsrug, a corn mill from 1910. The Emmerdennen were built around 1850. Hunebed D45 is located in the forest. The story goes that the dent in one of the capstones was caused by Napoleon in 1809. He would have stood on top of this dolmen, horse and all. Via Emmen you drive to the Orange Canal, which was completed in 1861. You pass hunebed D42, via the Valtherbos you drive back to Buffet restaurant Thijs en Aafke.
