Description
Het Gooi is known as a region full of large villas and well-known Dutch people, but the region has much more to offer. You will also find wonderfully quiet nature reserves to walk through and old towns such as Naarden where the history has been well preserved.
Heathlands and cliff coasts
This route takes you through the area between Naarden, Bussum and Huizen. You walk here through green areas, but also through heaths. You also walk a bit along the shore of the Gooimeer. The coastline here consists of a steep cliff that dates from the time when the Zuiderzee was not yet closed off by the Afsluitdijk. The water here is very popular with water sports enthusiasts as it is quite shallow in most places. So be sure to take the time to look around you along the water and take it all in. Enjoy a breath of fresh air on the edge of the Gooimeer.
