The small-scale landscape of the County is characterized by farmland, authentic farms and park gardens surrounding country houses and castles. This landscape is worth seeing in every season. Along the way you will also cycle through the Gelderland towns of Zutphen and Lochem.

At the start of the route you cycle through Lochem. The city is mainly known for the nearby Lochemse Berg, the highest point of the moraine surrounding Lochem. Lochem has had city rights since 1233. The city has a long history and this is reflected in the beautiful historic buildings in the city. From Lochem you cycle to the old Hanseatic city of Zutphen. The history of this city spans no less than 1,700 years. During that time, the city grew from a Germanic city into a powerful trading city and then into the medium-sized city it is today. Nowadays you will still find many historic buildings with a tower in Zutphen. Then you immediately understand why Zuthpen is sometimes called the Tower City.
Den Bramel Castle
Between Lochem and Zutphen you will pass Den Bramel Castle. This is a country estate and a former castle from the 18th century. There was already a castle here at the end of the 14th century, but almost nothing remains of it. The current building dates from the 1820s. In the 19th century, the building was renovated several times with materials from a former church. The small castle itself is not freely accessible, but the estate surrounding it is.
