Walking from Houten to Werkhoven

Put on your sturdy walking shoes for a beautiful and varied walk through the rural area between Houten and Werkhoven. First you walk to the Wickenburgh country estate, which dates back to 1300. You will see many fruit orchards in the area surrounding this estate. Further afield is the hamlet't Goy, which grew up around a former medieval castle. The orchards here make way for vast meadows and fields. Just past junction 31 you pass the Priorij Gods Werkhof on the left, which was built in 1960. Further on you pass through the protected villagescape of Werkhoven. You will see some beautiful old buildings here, such as the St. Stevens Church, which originally dates from the twelfth century. You walk back to Houten along the meadows.
