Tour of Strabrechtse Heide, Mierlo and Someren

It is beautiful to cycle through the Brabant nature between Someren, Mierlo and Lierop. First you drive through the Lieropse Heide. This is where Beuven is located, which is known for its many birds. Then you cycle into the adjacent Strabrechtse Heide. This extensive nature reserve gives you an idea of what a large part of Brabant was like centuries ago. Just past the hamlet of Trimpert you drive through Molenheide. This nature reserve was once a vast heathland, but was developed as a job creation project just before the Second World War. As in many other places, conifers were planted for mining in South Limburg. In Mierlo you will pass a town hall and old flour mill. You drive to Valentino Someren via the Herselse Heide and Lierop. Time for a terrace.
