Walking along the Banisveld

Fancy a surprising walk on car-free paths through the beautiful Brabant countryside? On the southern edge of De Kampina you walk along the relatively unknown Banisveld. This was used as agricultural land for many years, so the soil was very rich in nutrients. Owner Natuurmonumenten has excavated this fertilized top layer, so that many special plants can now be seen that thrive in nutrient-poor soil. Think of sundew and swamp clubmoss. Fishing rod, a plant with a curved stem and yellow flowers, grows on the verge along the road. Just past junction 57 you pass a viewpoint at the top of a former rubbish dump. Here you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. Your route starts at De Koekenbakker, which you will also pass by again along the way.
