Rijkel-Sluis Heel, back again via the Neer-Rijkel ferry.

This is the eighth route of a series of Tour of the Netherlands. Approximately 20-25 km of this round is followed and then a route back is planned with the route planner. Usually, daily stages of approximately 40-45 km are chosen.

We start this route just past Rijkel. After a short while on the road you will meet the stream the Swalm. Beautiful spot to eat our packed breakfast. Along enormous pools created by gravel extraction you will arrive at the Rozenkerkje in Asselt. Just before Roermond we had a cup of coffee on a beautiful terrace with, how could it be otherwise, Limburg cherry pie.

Cycled through Roermond and looked at the historic buildings on the pleasant square where you pass. It is not always easy to find your way in a big city. There are so many signs that you sometimes lose track.

Once over the bridge with a fantastic view of Roermond we feel free again. With a few twists and turns of the cycle path we arrive at the large recreational lakes and arrive at Sluis Heel via a fairly long road. We cycle via the village of Beegden over the Beegderheide. On the way we come across a tap installation of"Limburgs water\\\" at a recreational lake for a delicious refreshment. There should be more of these. Furthermore beautiful paths and lots of deciduous forest.

In the village of Horst there is a castle and you can enjoy a nice pint at Hotel de Abdij.

It is oppressively warm today and it is therefore not surprising that we are caught in a thunderstorm of an hour in Buggenum. Quite wet we arrive at the foot and bicycle ferry at junction 5 to arrive in Rijkel along a half-paved path.
