384003. This route is the seventh route in the Tour of the Netherlands series via LF cycle paths. However, in this series, daily stages are described, which drive part of the route and then return to the point where they started. You can always opt for good weather, if you can transport the bicycles by car, and sleep in your own bed. If the distances become too great, you will have to spend the night somewhere. We like it very much.
We start at junction 11 and park the car at a barracks nearby.
Along the Maas to the south and via beautiful cycle paths we drive over the dike towards Baarlo. Here you will automatically encounter the weir and lock complex in the Maas.
There are four castles in Baarlo. Two of them are on the Maas route. The castle Scheres is inhabited by the artist Tajiri, but is not on the route.
Continue to Kessel, where De Keverberg castle is located on a hill, near the square with old buildings. You can also take a nice break here.
With the ferry Kessel - Beesel you cross the Maas and you have a beautiful view of the church and the castle. The geranium village of Beesel can be reached via a well-laid out cycle path along the Maas. On the way the belt flour mill De Grauwe Beer. We drive to Rijkel and then go back north over Reuver to Belfeld. In Tegelen we could not go close to the Maas due to the high water. The bike path also runs along the top. It also turned out to be interesting to drive through Tegelen with its huge religious buildings that reach to the sky. Continue along the Maas to Venlo and over the cycle path along the railway bridge to the car.
