Cycling between Maastricht and Heerlen

Cycling through the hills between Heerlen and Maastricht is a wonderful experience. You'll thoroughly enjoy the natural beauty and the breathtaking views. Many picturesque villages lie along the route, such as Gulpen. Here you can admire the striking 13th-century church tower, which once housed St. Peter's Church. In Wijnandsrade, you'll pass a castle originally dating back to the 16th century. The historic heart of Valkenburg boasts numerous monumental buildings. You'll pass an old watermill, and further on, you'll pass the Geulpoort gate, rebuilt in 2014. Den Halder Castle and the ruins of Valkenburg Castle are also along the route. Via Margraten and Slenaken, you'll cross through the Voerstreek region.
