Molenroute Waarde and Kruiningen

Your route starts at Camping Den Inkel. You will find windmill De Hoed on the edge of Waarde. This mill was built around the year 1550 in Ghent. In 1858 the mill was rebuilt in Kruiningen and it remained in use until 1945. In 1963 the mill was restored, but in the following decades the mill fell into disrepair again. In 1991 the mill was moved to Waarde and completely refurbished. Today, grain is still ground on a voluntary basis with the mill. Then you walk along the Oude Molen in Kruiningen. This mill was built here in 1801 and until 1953 the mill remained in operation on wind power. The mill has been completely restored and is still regularly operated by a volunteer miller.
