The Biesbosch and Geertruidenberg together make for a beautiful cycling route. First you go to the ancient Geertruidenberg. This city was given market rights as early as 1213. A little later a beautiful road will lead you to Lage Zwaluwe: here you can take the ferry to De Biesbosch National Park, an idyllic landscape that mainly consists of reedlands and creeks. In the middle of the nature reserve you can take a break at the Biesbosch Museum Island, a beautifully modern museum with a visitor center. Here you will learn more about how people lived in the Biesbosch for centuries. This nature reserve is unique: it is one of the few freshwater areas in the world where there is an ebb and flow.
