Description
This route takes you through the region between the IJssel and the Drontermeer. First you drive to Kampen. In this picturesque Hanseatic town you see many monumental buildings, such as on the Burgwal and the Oudestraat. You cross the IJssel via the city bridge. The first bridge was built here in 1448, it was made of wood. Look back, you then have a beautiful view of the Bovenkerk in Kampen. Then you cycle along the floodplains of the IJssel to 's-Heerenbroek, where you cross the river with a ferry. In the wide polder it is quiet cycling on car-free paths. You cross the Drontermeer, after which you make a round through the forests of the Roggebotzand.
