De Wolden, Drenthe, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 3803831
Provided by: route.nl
This route takes you through the area around Ruinen. In the village itself, you will pass the twelfth-century Mariakerk on the Brink. The building originally belonged to a Benedictine monastery, which was moved in 1325. In the countryside, it is quiet to walk on car-free roads. You will walk past fields and meadows, and you will also see some beautiful thatched farms. You will walk a bit along the rippling water of the Ruiner Aa. This largely canalized river provides drainage for the area. The last part of the route takes you along the edge of the Dwingelderveld. You will pass a lookout tower and the sheepfold of the Ruiner herd.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
