Tour of Ruinen, Dwingelderveld and Uffelte

There is plenty to do in Drenthe. Soon after boarding you drive through Ruinen. On the village green you can see the twelfth-century Mariakerk. From junction 93 you drive through the Boswachterij Ruinen. This nature reserve was created around 1940 for the Limburg mining industry. Here you drive through a series of coniferous forests, heaths, fens and sand drifts. Further on you drive through Dwingelderveld National Park. It is wonderfully quiet on the heath. Unless you come across the herd of Drenthe heath sheep that graze here. You cycle along car-free roads past fields, grasslands and Saxon farms. A little later you will see the next nature reserve appear on the horizon: the Holtingerveld. The route then leads you to Uffelte and Ansen, after which you get off at EuroParcs Ruinen. Time for a visit to the restaurant.
