Description

A day of cycling in Drenthe is never boring. You will find plenty of nature and culture here. For example, right after getting on, you can take a look at the Ruiner sheepfold. There is also a lookout tower here. Then you cycle through the Dwingelderveld, the largest wet heathland in Western Europe. Through the adjacent forest you cycle to Lhee, a picturesque village where you see several old thatched farms. Further on you cycle through the Drenthe part of the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. In Diever you see several monumental Saxon farms at the Brink. The former Schultehuis dates back to 1604. Dwingeloo is also a village worth seeing. Here you can see the Sint-Nicolaaskerk. This dates from the fifteenth century and has a spire in the shape of an onion.
