Description

This route takes you through the Dwingelderveld National Park. Put on waterproof shoes, because you are going to walk through the largest contiguous wet heathland in Western Europe. At the start of your route you will pass the visitor center. Further on there is a lookout tower and the sheepfold of the Ruiner herd that goes out onto the heath every day. This herd has been kept since 1948. In the middle of the heath it is wonderfully quiet a little later. You only hear the wind. Or bleating sheep. The house of Anne de Vries who wrote 'Bartje' among other things once stood here. In 2018 the building burned down, now all that remains is a concrete floor. You walk back to EuroParcs De Wiltzangh at your leisure through the forest. Time for a delicious meal in the restaurant.
