Description

This route takes you through Dwingelderveld National Park. Put on waterproof shoes, because you will be walking through the largest contiguous wet heathland in Western Europe. At the start of your route you will pass the visitor center. Further on are a watchtower and the sheepfold of the Ruiner herd that goes out to the heath every day. This herd has been kept since 1948. A little later it is wonderfully quiet in the middle of the heath. You only hear the wind. Or bleating sheep. The house of Anne de Vries once stood here, who wrote'Bartje\\\', among other things. The building burned down in 2018, now only a concrete floor remains. You can easily walk back through the forest to EuroParcs De Wiltzangh. Time for a nice meal in the restaurant.
