The 19th stage of the Pieterpad (REVERSE DIRECTION)

The eighteenth stage of the Pieterpad runs from Gennep to Vierlingsbeek along the bank of the Maas. Along the way you can enjoy the view over the Maas, but you also walk along the edge of the De Maasduinen National Park. Gennep is a fortified city and you can see that in the town hall, the Martinustoren and the Petershuis, which take you back to earlier times. On the spot where the city wall of Gennep once stood you will now find the Gennep Ceramic Wall. The ceramics in this wall were made by Pieter Arts and they refer to the historic core of Gennep. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere in this town and then set sail for the Limburg nature.</div><div><br><b>Maasduinen National Park</b><br>Just before When you walk through Afferden, you walk along the edge of Maasduinen National Park. This nature reserve is the longest river dune belt in the Netherlands. The park consists of heathlands, drifting dunes and forests that alternate with each other. From Afferden you cross the Maas with a ferry and then continue walking to Vierlingsbeek, where the end point of the route is located.</div><div><br><b>Het Pieterpad</b>< ;br>This route is part of the Pieterpad, one of the most famous long-distance walks in the Netherlands. The entire route consists of 26 stages that run from the Groningen Wadden coast to South Limburg.
