Stage number twenty of the Pieterpad takes you from Vierlingsbeek to Swolgen. On this route you will find beautiful estates and other green areas that provide a wonderful backdrop for a brisk walk. You will also walk through charming Limburg towns with a friendly atmosphere.

From Vierlingsbeek to Landgoed Geysteren
Vierlingsbeek, the starting point of this walk, is located on the Roman Heerbaan which used to run from Maastricht to Nijmegen. The Romans had influence here centuries ago and you can still tell from finds made near Vierlingsbeek. For example, urns from the Gallo-Roman period and Roman coins have been found on the cover sand ridge between Vierlingsbeek and Maashees. Just try to imagine what it looked like here in Roman times when you walk here. From Vierlingsbeek you walk to Wanssum via the Geysteren Estate. This estate dates from 1806 and you will find beautiful nature reserves with fields, meadows, old farms, forests, stately avenues and fens.

On to Swolgen
From Wanssum you set course for the end point in Swolgen. You walk through Meerlo. In the north of Swolgen you will find an agricultural area where many asparagus, the delicacy for which Limburg is known, are grown. You end your tour in the center of Swolgen.

The Pieterpad
This stage is part of a multi-day long-distance walk on the Pieterpad.
