The Lauwersmeer National Park is located on the border of Groningen and Friesland. This route takes you from one province to the other over the dike on the edge of the Lauwersmeer. Enjoy the relaxing nature around the Lauwersmeer and the authentic towns in the north of Groningen and Friesland.
On the edge of the Netherlands
From the nature reserve around the Lauwersmeer you cycle to Lauwersoog, a Groningen fishing village. Via the marina of Lauwersoog you cycle to the dike that connects Groningen with Friesland. This dike was built to close off the former Lauwerszee from the Waddenzee. If you cycle here you can enjoy the nature of National Park Lauwersmeer and all the birds that live here on the one hand and the Wadden Sea on the other hand.
