Cycling through the Barony of Breda

From Camping Liesbos you will take a trip through the Baronie van Breda. Along the river Aa you will cycle towards the city centre. You will cycle along the Zaartbos and through the Zaartpark. Then you will cycle via Bavel and Molenschot to the old forests of the Baronie. These forests were mostly planted by city barons and other noblemen. They are characterised by long avenues. First you will cycle through the Sint-Annabos, followed by the Ulvenhoutse Bos. Further on lies the Mastbos, one of the oldest cultivated forests in the Netherlands. In 1515 Count Hendrik III van Nassau had the then heathland planted with seeds of Scots pine from Germany. The trunks were used to make ship masts. After getting off you can enjoy a delicious meal in restaurant Strix.
