Cycling through the Barony of Breda

From Camping Liesbos, you'll take a tour through the Baronie of Breda. Along the Aa River, you'll cycle towards the city center, passing Zaartbos and Zaartpark. Then, you'll cycle via Bavel and Molenschot to the old forests of the Baronie. These forests were often planted by city barons and other noblemen. They are characterized by long avenues. First, you'll cycle through Sint-Annabos, followed by Ulvenhoutse Bos. Further on lies Mastbos, one of the oldest cultivated forests in the Netherlands. In 1515, Count Hendrik III of Nassau had the then heathland planted with Scots pine seeds from Germany. The trunks were used to make ship masts.
