Cycling through the Barony of Breda

From Camping Liesbos you can take a tour through the Barony of Breda. You drive along the Aa river towards the city center. You cycle along the Zaartbos and through the Zaartpark. Then you cycle via Bavel and Molenschot to the old forests of the Baronie. These forests were often created by city barons and other noble lords. They are therefore characterized by long avenues. First you drive through the Sint-Annabos, followed by the Ulvenhoutse Bos. Further afield is the Mastbos, one of the oldest cultivated forests in the Netherlands. In 1515, Count Henry III of Nassau had the then heathland planted with seeds of Scots pine from Germany. The trunks were used to make ship masts. After getting off you can enjoy something to eat in the Strix restaurant.
